In the autumn of 2021, right after the festival season ended and just before this particular venue was being torn down for winter, I was invited to take part in a live session recording with Junipa Gold – inside a circus tent. It was a magical experience from start to finish, from all the motivated people involved in making it happen to all the expensive equipment we were able to play with.
Junipa Gold, usually a group of four, doubled the musician count for this occasion and it was exciting to see how quick all eight people clicked and merged into one band. The inital goal was to record and film three songs in support of Junipa Gold's latest release. But the great chemistry was too good to waste – so we went ahead and recorded live versions of their complete EP instead!
I was able to add some special sauce to the soundscape of already great songs with a fun selection of instruments provided by Zusammenklang, Feldkirch.
